Our first Halloween in the new house! We had a ton of trick-treaters ... adorable little princesses, cowboys, butterflies, and monsters...
We waited until the last minute to get halloween decorations and learned a valuable lesson: do NOT wait until the night before Halloween to buy pumpkins! All that was left were a couple of rotten ones. So, we ended up with no pumpkins, but we did have a faux-tombstone with a flashing red light (one of the few things left at BigLots). How fun :)
We met one of our neighbors last night. Her name was Joanne and she had a little cowboy glued to her hip. Seemed really nice. This is going to be a perfect neighborhood to start a family in.

Skateboarding Stephen
One of Stephen's favorite things about our house: the long hill leading down to it. After a long, hard day at work, he loves to blow off steam by longboarding down it. He's kind of adorable when he longboards - looks like a surfer or something. Sometimes people even come out of their houses to watch. Here are some pics:
Our New House
We bought our first house at the end of last month. I don't know if we'll ever be done decorating/remodeling it ("overwhelming" is the word), but it's our home and we love it.

Silverwood with the Huffs
We decided to stay an extra day after the wedding to relax before heading back to work. It's a good thing, too, because Carly and I needed some quality time with our husbands ... they were on wedding duty all weekend long and we hardly even saw them!
Although we had been planning on just hanging out by the pool, on a whim, we decided to go the an amusement/water park in Coeur d'Alane. We had so much fun! It was about 90 degrees outside and we spent practically the whole day in the water. We also got to do a "death defying" drop from about a million feet up in the air. I was scared to go on it, but then wanted to go again because it was so fun!
Tyler's Wedding Weekend
Good-bye Tyler and Maureen!
Reception at the Masonic Temple
The boys really put a lot of effort into the getaway car ... streamers, paint, inappropriate messages, and Barry White on full blast awaited Tyler and Maureen as they exited the Masonic Temple.
Cutest baby I have ever met ... I wanted to take him home! Please, Stephen, can I keep him?

Stephen's Honors and Awards Ceremony
The Honors and Awards Ceremony for University of Washington Dental School's 2007 year took place in Hogness Auditorium this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. We met Stephen at the school - he was so adorable in his linen pants and yellow tie. My mom and dad, Ashley, Kaitlin, David and Kathleen, and Grandma Annabelle were all there to watch Stephen receive his awards.
I was so proud. Stephen won five awards (including his membership in OKU): Pierre Fauchard Academy Award, American Academy of Oral Maxillo Facial Pathology, American Academy of Oral Biology, and a research award. He really was a shining star among his class. There were a few students who stood out and he was one of them. I knew last week when we went to the OKU banquet and he received membership in the fraternity for being number 5 in his class that he would get recognition, but I was overwhelmed by his accomplishments. He deserves all the recognition he has received. He worked hard and it paid off - he is going to be an amazing dentist.
After the ceremony Stephen gave us all (minus Grandma) a quick tour of his school. He showed us his dental operatory where he has been working for the last two years. I was shocked at how small the units are and how many they pack into one big room. David remembered the operatories from when he went to UW and Kathleen even said she remembered being a patient for one of David's classmate's board exam. David was so proud of his son today.
It was a gorgeous day today - 80 degree weather on the 1st day of June - and, after the ceremony, Stephen and I came home where I gave him his graduation present: a set of engraved marble bookends for his office. One of the bookends says: Dr. Stephen Ralph Hansen, D.D.S., University of Washington, June 2, 2007. On the bottom of both bookends it says: with love from Carly. I wanted to get him something he could keep forever and could use in his office. I am so proud of him - he is truly amazing.
