A Birthday Party
It seems like everyone we know is turning 30 this month! Fortunately, I am not.
We went to a birthday party for Ryan Jordan a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. Ryan is so sweet and we loved celebrating him. Happy birthday Ryan!

Little King Stanley isn't so little anymore

Ryan scored a trip to Hawaii for his birthday ... not bad!

Orange You Glad You Tried It?
I was at a potluck for my stroller fitness class a couple of weeks ago when Laken decided to be THAT baby. You know, the one who cries and screams and makes all the other moms glad that their child is behaving. Poor Laken was teething really bad and I had almost decided to take her home when one of the other moms suggested that I try giving her an orange. I thought, "what the heck!" and thrust that orange slice at her as fast as I could get it into my hot little hands. It worked! She absolutely loved it and forgot all about her teething pain. When Daddy found out that I had let her have her first taste of something a little sweeter without him, though, he insisted that I pick up some oranges and let him see her reaction too .... so, we had a little orange-tasting picnic in the living room...
Yummmm, I think I like this!
Oooooh, I don't know ... maybe not!
Yup, I LOVE it!
Well, they might have taken the orange away, but this tray still TASTES like it!
Way Behind!
I just did a huge photo dump to my computer and have so much new stuff to post. First teeth, crawling/scooting baby, birthday parties, a trip to the fair, and EASTER are a few of the fun pictures I have to share. I am working on getting them up, but for now I will leave you with a picture of Laken in her sweet little Easter outfit...

Good Morning, Mommy!
Laken is not usually a happy morning waker. She's typically more of an "I'm-gonna-lay-here-screaming-until-somebody-feeds-me" morning person. She takes after her mama that way. So, you can imagine my surprise and glee to hear her moving around in her crib - after sleeping in late(!)- and go into her room to find her like this. Silly girl wiggled her way all the way to the opposite end of her crib. Looks like it's about time to take the monitor out of there! Let's hope there are more mornings like this to come :)

On the Move!
This is what Laken has been up to all week. She is keeping very busy trying to figure her way from one place to another. We've found that she's motivated best by Mommy and Daddy's things ... she loves Daddy's watch, Mommy's glasses, and both of our cell phones.
She's also spending a lot of time on her hands and knees ... she hasn't quite figured out how the crawling thing works but she is definitely on her way. Here's a picture of her crouching on all fours ... she got stuck in this position and wouldn't move from it today after church!

Half Birthday
We visited Daddy at work on Laken's half birthday. We love going to visit and it always makes Daddy's day to see his girls.
It got a little goofy in the break room
Laken and Deanna were sharing all the office gossip
I love this picture. It is a tiny peek into how crazy and goofy Stephen will act to get a smile out of his girl. He is totally shameless and Laken loves it - she thinks he is absolutely the funniest guy in the world

Sitting Like a Big Girl
Laken started sitting pretty well at around five months, but she still needed some "bumpers" and was a little wobbly. Now, a month later, she sits so well unassisted and can play happily all by herself. When I see her sitting there holding a toy (or several toys) I just can't believe how BIG she seems!

A Baby-less Post
A couple of weeks ago, Stephen and I went on our first real date since baby. Yes, I know this is a ridiculously long time to go without a date, and I got an earful about it from the rest of my mommy-friends. Well, lesson learned! A night out really did us some good and we came back better, happier parents for it :)
We had dinner at Stanley and Seaforts.
My handsome date.
Our view of T-Town
Cocktails!
Something I haven't tasted in a VERY long time...
We enjoyed some of our favorite things.
Me, a champagne cocktail...
Stephen, oysters.
Those cocktails made us a little silly
This is me explaining to Stephen how much I hate my "old lady hands"
And finally dessert and coffee with my absolute favorite, creme brulee
(I think I've mentioned before that only reason I even bother with the entree is to justify eating the dessert - oh, how I love my sweets!)
